Temporary fire protection
09 May 2018
Over the last few years, temporary fire protection has become a popular choice, with wireless fire alarm systems, in particular, being used on many building and construction sites.
Bradley Markham, director of Bull Products, suggests the top benefits of using temporary fire protection on site.
Safety
First and foremost, temporary fire protection provides the utmost safety for workers. Permanent fire safety equipment on site can actually pose more risk to workers – this could be due to the cabling which could become dislodged and cause slips, trips and falls, or outdated equipment which doesn’t allow workers to communicate effectively and signal a danger.
Quick and easy to install
Since there is no cabling requirement with a wireless fire alarm system, the time taken for the installation of temporary fire protection is much less. A hardwired fire alarm system, for example, can take days or weeks to install, while a wireless device can be set up in just minutes.
System flexibility
Fitting a fire alarm system is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure the safety of the people in your construction site. While this should be a straightforward task, regulations and structural obstacles make it a complicated task. Therefore, the flexibility of the system is imperative. Wireless fire alarm systems can be repositioned anywhere with minimal hassle and can be linked to other systems to ensure a site is protected from start to finish.
Cost-effective
Wireless systems offer a more cost-effective option as they can be moved around the site, to the next phase of the project, or even to a completely new project, thus ensuring maximum usage and cutting costs.
Construction site suitability
Temporary wireless alarm systems have been designed for use on construction sites where there are frequent loud sounds. The benefit of using a wireless alarm system is the high decibel sounder to ensure the alarm is heard by workers on site. Wireless alarm systems are also robust and waterproof, so it can be used in the harshest conditions.
