New winter hand protection

09 September 2024

MCR SAFETY introduces it new waterproof, thermal and featherweight glove.

WINTER IS coming and we’re fast approaching months of wet and cold weather. However, winter is also the time when important work is needed outdoors. The construction industry never stops and repairs to road and rail networks are essential, environmental and agricultural projects all continue regardless of the harsh conditions.

Anyone who endures these unpleasant working conditions needs to have the correct PPE and gloves are probably the most important piece of kit. When it’s cold, circulation to your extremities is reduced as your body focuses on keeping vital organs supplied with blood so they can function properly. That’s why your hands get cold before any other part of your body and keeping them warm can help maintain a healthy overall body temperature.

Thermal insulation & waterproof barrier

Geo-Therm is a new glove that provides incredible thermal insulation in the form of a high-performance acrylic liner. Smooth and flexible Nitrile coating provides a 360º barrier against liquid and oily fluids because preventing your skin from becoming wet is so important. The Nitrile covers from cuff to fingertip, repelling moisture from all angles. It’s soft, supple nature allows for great dexterity and freedom of movement so you can carry out even the most intricate tasks with ease.

Featherweight for comfort

This glove is light as a feather! Made on an 18 gauge machine, The form-fitting shell moves with your hand for flexibility, manual dexterity and comfort. It’s designed to work with the body and stay on the hand for all day use.

Grip…

A second palm coating of sandy Nitrile provides the grip, reliable and firm, just what’s needed for all handling tasks.  This additional layer of coating also increases the glove’s durability and strength.

Touch screen fingertips…

When it’s freezing cold, you don’t want to remove gloves to use your phone or tablet; no need to do so with Geo-Therm, touch-screen fingertips see to that.  It’s also sanitised in the manufacturing process for hand hygiene and comfort.

Certified thermal credentials…

As you would expect from a winter glove, Geo-Therm has been tested to EN511 standards. There are three separate elements to the test which can be understood as follows:

  • Convective Cold, this measures how the glove will shield the hand from cold air.  Scores are measured from 0 to 4.
  • Contact Cold, how the well the glove will provide a barrier when handling sub-zero material.  Scores are measured from 0 to 4.
  • Water Permeability, a simple test to measure if the glove is water-proof or not.  Scores are measured as a basic yes or no, no scoring 0 and yes scoring 1.

Geo-Therm achieves a very respectable EN511 221 making it a highly effective winter glove.
