Nationwide Platforms has recently been awarded the Construction Health and Safety Group (CHSG) Beaumont Safety Trophy for its anti-entrapment solution, the SkySiren.
The trophy is awarded each year to the best new working method for the prevention of construction industry accidents.
The SkySiren has already been used on more than 30 UK sites including Heathrow Airport and Crossrail. It works by reacting to pressure on a sensitive rubber strip placed between the operator and the MEWP control panel.
The pressure is converted into a signal to stop the MEWP immediately and trigger an alarm and beacon. The operator can re-set the SkySiren and rescue themselves if able to do so.
