Hearing selector tool

3M has extended its service tools portfolio to support health and safety managers in the training, education and product selection of hearing protective equipment (HPE).

The Hearing Selector Tool is a free service available via the 3M website - www.3M.co.uk/ohes - and allows users to input the noise levels of their working environment into a datasheet. This then helps them select suitable products for the workplace. The selection process can be carried out by two methods depending on the data collected: the High, Medium, Low (HML) method can be selected if LA (at ear) and LC (peak) values have been identified; or the Octave Band Analysis method if octave band analysis noise measurement has been undertaken.
