Easy access to stadium
15 September 2014
AFI provided two of its largest powered access machines to help contractors to install branding graphics and aluminum panels at Twickenham Stadium – the home of England Rugby.
Service Graphics hired a Genie Z135/70 boom lift and a Holland Lift Megastar G-320 scissor lift for a four-week contract at the 82,000 seat capacity stadium.
Using AFI’s Megastar scissor lift, Service Graphics installed branding measuring 33m x 5.3m on four columns on the outside of the stadium. The company used the Z135/70 boom lift to fit the aluminum panels to 53 concrete columns to enhance their appearance.
Service Graphics projects manager Giles Davies said: "The Megastar, with its extendable platform deck, was ideal for the huge graphics that needed to be carried in its platform, and the Genie’s articulating boom and telescopic jib gave us easy access for installing the aluminum panels.”
The Genie Z-135/70 has a working height of 43.15m, and the Holland Lift Megastar G-320 has a working height of 33.70m and a platform length of 10.02m when extended.
