Manoeuvrability and flexibility were key requirements for Whittle Programmed Painting when the company hired an AFI powered access machine to carry out a painting contract in Derby. Following an AFI site survey, a JLG 800AJ boom lift was selected to paint the exterior concrete and windows on the five-storey office building. The 800AJ has a working height of 26.38m, a horizontal outreach of 15.74m and a width of 2.44m.

Peter Twells, Whittle's senior surveyor, said: "The 800AJ boom lift was able to get into some areas where space was limited, and its articulating jib was useful in enabling our operatives to gain better access by manoeuvring the cage into different positions in relation to the boom."
