Powered access hire specialist AFIUplift is holding free safety seminars on the safe, efficient use of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).

Seminars will take place on 11 May at the Adren Hotel in Solihull; on 18 May at the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel; and on 25 May at the Bredbury Hall Hotel, Stockport.

AFI has launched the seminars just weeks after its chairman, David Shipman, addressed the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) summit in London and called for the industry to do more to promote the safety benefits of powered access.

Speakers will include Joy Jones, principal construction inspector of the HSE, and IPAF managing director Tim Whiteman.

Subjects covered include working at height legislation, the advantages of MEWPs, management responsibilities, powered access training and best practice. There will also be demonstrations of booms and scissor lifts.

Anyone wanting to book a free place on these morning seminars should email their details and preferred venue to: register@afiuplift.

co.uk. Everyone attending will be eligible to attend a future AFI MEWPs for Managers course - free of charge.
