To commemorate its 125th
anniversary, Arco set a
challenge throughout the
business to undertake 125
Good Deeds and raise
£125,000 for charity. A year
on and Arco has exceeded
all expectations as its staff
rose to the challenge and
achieved: 238 good deeds;
over £148,000 raised; over
200 charities supported;
over 1200 hours in
company time volunteered.
The combined initiatives led to a year in which great enthusiasm, generosity and ingenuity from everyone across the business enabled Arco to exceed its target.
From voluntary acts of kindness to sponsored team runs and £10k donations to charity, the Arco team more than delivered.
As well as local support through its 40-branch network, the Arco Board also made three donations of £10,000 each to national charities: Help for Heroes; the NSPCC; and the Lighthouse Club Benevolent Fund, a registered charity dedicated to giving aid and assistance to construction workers and their families who suffer accident or ill health.
Arco also supports communities in need around the world including the Afghanaid Appeal; an international humanitarian, non-governmental organisation that focuses on long term sustainable development in some of the poorest rural areas in Afghanistan. To support this, Arco donated a full container of clothing. Arco also donated 10,000 to the DEC Haiti appeal and the first of Arco's 125 Good Deeds was to assist deaf children in the developing world by donating 1% of the sales of its E-gard range to the charity Sound Seekers.
