Recognising health and safety in construction

COMPANIES ARE being encouraged to celebrate safe construction projects by entering a new category in the Safety and Health Excellence Awards that recognises Best Health and Safety in Construction.
This new category, sponsored by Turner and Townsend, is designed to recognise a construction project, which has an exemplary health and safety record. Entrants must explain how the project ensured the health, safety and wellbeing of anyone who had access to or worked on the construction site. The project must have been completed no earlier than 1 January 2017 and if the project is ongoing the entry must apply to a health and safety strategy that was implemented after 1 January 2017.
Another new category is Best Health and Safety in Manufacturing, which is designed to recognise a manufacturing premises that can demonstrate either an exemplary health and safety record or how it has taken significant steps to improve health and safety standards. Entrants must explain how they have ensured the health, safety and wellbeing of anyone who had access to or worked at the premises.
It’s completely FREE to enter these categories, which form a core part of the Safety & Health Excellence Awards that promote the importance of innovation and underline the highest standards of excellence within occupational safety and health. The ceremony will be held at the prestigious VOX Conference Centre on 10 April 2019 at the NEC, Birmingham and will be hosted by comedian Sean Lock.
The 2018 Awards attracted over 150 entries and next year’s awards now offers four brand new categories, which include The Alan McArthur Unsung Hero Award, Best Health and Safety in Manufacturing, Best Health and Safety in Construction and Best Health and Safety Project.
