Safety, Health & Wellbeing Live
30 November 2021
The inaugural Safety, Health and Wellbeing Live (SHW Live) is coming to Manchester Central, a newly reinvented trade exhibition and conference, set to run from 15 – 16 February 2022. HSM takes a look at what you can expect from this exciting new event.
PROFESSIONALS, COMPANIES and organisations from across the industry will convene to showcase the latest innovations, discuss industry trends, and enjoy educational seminars and networking opportunities. Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) professionals from across the North and North-West will be delighted at the prospect of the reinvented regional exhibition and conference programme, which will champion excellence in workplace safety and occupational health, as well as inspiring improved standards in mental health and wellbeing.
The two-day event, which is free-to-attend, promises a packed line up of industry-leading exhibiting brands, networking opportunities, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions for all delegates.
Attendees will have the chance to hear about the latest regulatory changes and work taking place to improve health and safety culture in the workplace. Topics covered will include moving forward through the Coronavirus pandemic and coping with COVID-19, alongside mental health, and evolving workplace health culture.
The show is being organised by an experienced team of professionals at What Else Events. With over 20 years’ experience delivering the highest quality exhibitions and conferences for OSH professionals, the organisers are devoted in reinventing the regional conference and exhibition platform.
Reconnecting the OSH community
With the country slowly recovering from the effect of both COVID19 and Brexit, SHW Live is set to reconnect regional occupational safety and health professionals in the North and North-West of England. The event, which is taking place at Manchester Central, presents a welcome, in-person return for the health, safety, and wellbeing community.
British Safety Council CEO Mike Robinson is excited about the reinvented format, he said: “British Safety Council is pleased to be supporting What Else Events and the exciting new regional Safety, Health and Wellbeing Live events, as an Event Partner. The regional format of the events provides another important opportunity for us to bond, as well as provide education and practical advice around health, safety, and wellbeing. We look forward to a mutually fruitful partnership.”
International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM) chief executive Phillip Pearson is also pleased to be a part of the event, stating: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Safety, Health and Wellbeing Live next year. This will be an opportunity, after such a challenging period, to take stock, share lessons learned and showcase some excellent innovations in the safety, health and wellbeing area.”
With the introduction of appropriate steps to protect against COVID-19, and an excellent line-up of speakers and panel sessions on offer, bookings for the conference have been very strong.
Organisers hope to attract more than 2,000 members of the OSH community to the innovative, informative, and impactful event. Members of the manufacturing and engineering, construction, transport, and public sectors will be actively seeking product information, solutions, and best practice advice to improve workplace standards.
With ongoing industry challenges such as tight budgets, travel, and time restrictions, SHW Live aims to provide the only truly accessible, affordable, and sustainable platform for the community to meet in person.
Supported by the OSH Industry
Numerous industry-leading bodies, regulators and councils have pledged their support for the two-day exhibition and conference event. Organisers are supported in delivering the show by an experienced Advisory Council, which includes some of the UK’s most influential voices in occupational safety and health.
The council comprises more than 20 accomplished professionals, representing some of the most respected industry bodies, including the British Safety Council, British Occupational Hygiene Society and NEBOSH.
NEBOSH COO Dee Arp is a member of the Advisory Council and commented: “NEBOSH is delighted to be an event partner for the new Safety, Health and Wellbeing Live shows. As one of the advisory council members, I look forward to contributing to the 2022 programme and will work to ensure it updates delegates on best practice. These events will provide a great opportunity to meet up with fellow health and safety professionals, something I know we have all missed.”
