Yard safety improved
04 February 2016
Thorworld Industries has assisted Hexion Chemicals UK in improving its yard safety with the installation of a new fixed loading bay.

Hexion, a global provider of thermoset resins, has been successfully using a Thorworld mobile yardramp for over ten years at its site in Barry, South Wales.
Richard Sullivan, technical manager at Hexion, said: “We decided to invest in a fixed loading bay to help improve health and safety. Our mobile yardramp was extremely secure but we wanted to eliminate as many potential hazards as possible, such as removing the need to connect chains to vehicles and running the risk of ramp and vehicle detaching during loading.”
Hexion required an installation which fitted into its existing building and, as such, a bespoke solution was the only option. Thorworld designed and manufactured the bespoke fixed loading bay, which fits seamlessly into Hexion’s existing warehouse. The bay is now fully operational and being used on a daily basis to support Hexion’s busy throughput.
Richard said: “The Thorworld fixed loading bay and ramp have greatly improved the efficiency and safety of our yard operations. The bay is an essential element of our warehouse operation and it means we can provide an effective, efficient service without compromising on yard safety."
