Environmental qualification
19 May 2015
NEBOSH will be formally launching the Environmental Awareness at Work Qualification at Safety and Health Expo.
This one day multiple choice assessed programme aims to raise awareness of environmental impacts and the risk control measures available.
Nearly 900 people took the qualification during its pilot phase and the feedback from students so far has been excellent, according to NEBOSH. Over 94% of those surveyed said they would recommend the qualification to others.
NEBOSH chief executive Teresa Budworth said: "This qualification is for anybody who needs a basic understanding of environmental issues in the workplace, particularly where employers are introducing the ISO 14001 environment management standard."
The award complements the current environmental portfolio and provides a progression route onto the NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management.
NEBOSH also offers the National Diploma in Environmental Management which is designed for individuals with responsibilities for the management of environmental risk in relation to the damage caused by work activities. It is said to be invaluable for those aiming to develop and implement effective environmental management systems within their organisations. Successful Environmental Diploma holders can then go on to study the NEBOSH Masters in Environmental Management in partnership with the University of Hull.
