Metal detectability and calibration
12 May 2015
Safety knife supplier, Martor, is providing an integrated range to the food and pharmaceutical industry.
According to Martor, its metal detectable safety knives are made from a plastic that is also detectable by x-ray scanning and are assessed and approved by the German safety council. The company believes that it should not be necessary to break up the plastic in the knives in order to evaluate the detectability. Test cards containing embedded beads of the metal detectable plastic are available for establishing sensitivity and calibration of scanning heads. The embossed beads come in a size range of 2.5, 3.5, 5, 6.5 and 8mm diameter. The test cards and beads are resistant to a temperature range of -40 to 70degrees C.
With this technical and quality support also comes the Martor free site survey option and its dedicated advisory and training service.
