Pilz is expanding its range of configurable PNOZmulti 2 control systems with new safe motion monitoring modules.

The two new modules are said to provide safe monitoring of one or two axes in drives; safety functions can be created and monitored with ease. The modules can be used in any industry.
All safety functions are in accordance with EN 61800-5-2 for adjustable speed electrical power drive systems. All common incremental encoders can also be connected using drive-specific connection cables via the industry-compatible interface Mini I/O.
Motion monitoring functions include Safe Speed Range, Safe Speed Monitoring or Safe Direction and Safe Operating Stop. The modules are configured via the PNOZmulti Configurator software tool and enable users to create and monitor safety functions intuitively, independent of the higher level control system. Instead of carrying out wiring manually, the safety program can be customised for safety-related functions using the certified function blocks stored in the software tool.
