DuPont leads innovation in the protective coverall market
23 January 2013
Earlier this year DuPont launched the highly anticipated Tyvek Classic Xpert coverall into the UK market.

Earlier this year DuPont launched the highly anticipated Tyvek Classic Xpert coverall into the UK market. This suit was developed in response to growing customer needs and demands, not only for increased protection, but also for better fit and comfort.
Chloe Wetherell, EMEA new products leader at DuPont Protection Technologies, explained: “Trends in the protective coverall market in the last few years have been moving towards achieving a greater level of comfort, leading ultimately towards their perception as a second skin. Achieving this will help maximise worker efficiency (more comfort, more productive) as well as the acceptance of employees towards wearing them.â€
Garments made from Tyvek already have an advantage, having taken a step towards the notion of a 'second skin' due to the inherent lightweight, flexible and strong continuous fibre structure. During the development of Tyvek Xpert, the coverall was redesigned to ensure that the fit was better than ever, allowing better comfort and flexibility.
The new hood shape perfectly follows head movements, while the sleeves have been designed to ensure that they won't ride up - even during overhead work - meaning that uncomfortable thumb loops are no longer required.
Whilst offering the wearer the greatest level of comfort yet, the technology used in the coverall means that they also offer the wearer the highest level of protection in a Type 5/6 category. The Tyvek Classic Xpert has only 0.8% whole suit inward leakage, compared to 8% in a typical Microporous film-based coverall, giving ten times more protection than some competitors.
