A self-contained, personnel de-dusting booth for removing dust and work debris from clothes has been introduced by air handling specialist, Air Control Industries of Axminster.

It is based around a free-standing booth with both blow and extraction systems that work in unison to remove dust/dirt from clothes whilst simultaneously exhausting it away to avoid re-contamination.

The 'blow-off' air system is based upon ACI's successful 'JetBlack' that is used widely in such industries as paper, plaster, cement and plastic machining. Delivering air at pressures below 2.1 psi it is safe even when the air jet is used directly on exposed skin, unlike the dubious and hazardous practice of using compressed. Air is delivered via a hand-held gun attached to a flexible hose.

The extraction unit that exhausts the removed dust is located in the base of the booth. It draws air through the roof of the booth at sufficient force to catch airborne media and deliver it into a collection vessel beneath the perforated aluminium floor. This operation helps to avoid blown-off dust and dirt re-contaminating personnel whilst de-dusting.

The extraction system delivers up to 1750 m3/hr and the dust collection facility has a capacity of 157 litres - it can be connected directly into an existing ventilation system.

The booth is constructed from white laminated plywood with an extruded aluminium frame and mild steel plenum. It has an internal fluorescent light and adjustable feet to allow adjustment for uneven floors. A 240V 16 A supply is required.
