Ergonomic office furniture specialist
Posturite has praised the BBC for
highlighting the health dangers of
too much time spent sitting.
Posturite said the recent BBC2 Horizon special report, 'The Truth About Exercise', performed a tremendous service by demonstrating to a mass audience the importance of regular movement.
The programme warned that millions of people were facing a health time bomb by spending up to 12 hours a day in a chair.
"It's something we've been telling people for years," said Posturite's CEO Ian Fletcher-Price. "A chair can be a killer if you spend too much time in it. It's absolutely vital that people who have desk jobs take regular breaks, stand up as often as they can, and generally keep on the move." Posturite says thankfully there has been an upturn in companies investing proactively in equipment designed to give desk-bound staff greater health protection such as sit/stand desking, ergonomic seating, writing slopes/document holders, vertical mice, monitor raisers and so on.
