A new concept in combined eye and respiratory protection by JSP is proving an effective and inexpensive solution to the issue of silica dust, released by natural stone and many common building products such as concrete and brick. Called FilterSpec, the unit combines a mask and disposable filter with safety spectacles or goggles in a way that allows respiratory and eye protection to work together.

FilterSpec and a goggle version called FilterSpec Pro combine eye and respiratory protection in one integrated PPE unit. They satisfy the HSE concerns over fit testing the combinations of PPE normally worn, and eliminate the enduring problem of leaky masks, lens fogging and wearer discomfort.

Fit testing of respirators is being championed in the HSE 'Clean Air? Take Care!' initiative, and guidance on respiratory protection fit testing (RPE) has been revised as recently as July this year in a bid to address incompatible PPE.
