Unigloves celebrates 20 years in the UK

05 October 2022

HAND PROTECTION specialist Unigloves is celebrating a landmark 20th anniversary since it set up its UK operations.

The company, with its global manufacturing base in Malaysia consisting of four production facilities, produces in excess of 4 billion gloves annually and has grown since its arrival in the UK in 2002 to become one of Europe’s most trusted providers of protective products and services.

The company – which manufactures both single use and reusable hand protection ranges for use across a diverse range of industry sectors - in addition to the provision of hand care and hand hygiene products – has recently made significant investments in growing its sales and administration teams in addition to new product development has also announced the opening of new offices in Poland and Bulgaria.

“I’m often asked how a 20 year old business makes itself recognised in such an established and competitive market which the PPE one undoubtedly is. It’s one of my favourite questions and one I always answer in the same way.
“We never lose sight of the fact that our business is all about our customers,” said Unigloves’ UK Managing Director Chris Wahlers.
“By understanding both our distributors’ and our end users’ needs, anticipating how they will evolve in the future, and focusing on hand protection solutions for them in the long-term, we can build on the Unigloves brand promise: “KEEPING YOU SAFE”.

“A business is nothing without the people it’s made up of,” insists Chris. “Fortunately, that starts with the owners of the group, and Kevin Onah, who started our UK operations in 2002. They’ve been endlessly encouraging, and we try to encourage the same ethos in our team.”

Looking ahead to the next five years, Chris is clear that Unigloves’ goal is to have its brand, people, products, and operations admired and regarded as influential, and to be a force for good in the hand protection market.

“We’d like to expand our market presence in front of end-users, celebrate the work they do, and really impress upon them our expertise and desire to help protect their workforce. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to achieve greater presence amongst our customers and our distributor partners, broaden our geographic reach, drive further operational efficiency, and establish additional income streams,” concluded Chris.
