SV 200A monitoring station offers noise directivity detection

05 November 2019

Revolutionary environmental system monitors noise directivity in both the horizontal and vertical axes.

Svantek are renowned for breaking new ground in noise and vibration measurement and Shawcity is delighted to be able to offer the all-in-one SV 200A Class 1 noise monitoring station - one of their most innovative systems yet.

The latest environmental noise solution has a single traditional condenser microphone mounted centrally but it also has an additional four microphones located equidistant from each other on the sides of the housing. These use a clever sound intensity technique to detect the direction of a dominant noise source both in the vertical and the horizontal axes – a completely unique capability in an environmental system of this size and price. The Leq distribution in angle sectors is saved as the time-history and can be used for data filtering and reporting.

In practice, the measurement of directionality gives the opportunity to indicate the dominant source of noise in the area of measurement or to exclude unwanted events. The accurate GPS module also provides information on the location as well as time synchronisation measurement.

The station can perform real-time frequency analysis in 1/1 and 1/3 OCTAVE bands and save it as time-history data. Additionally, it can record the audio signal for noise sources recognition and data recalculation.

The Advanced Alarms function can send e-mail and SMS notifications triggered by threshold level conditions combined with time conditions and status alarms.

The 3G MODEM, WLAN and LAN provide fast data transfer over the internet to PC with standard internet connectivity. Svantek’s SvanNET software enables a plug & play connection to the internet and easy management of measurement projects. Regardless of the SIM card type or Public or Private networks, SvanNET can establish a connection, giving full access to the measurement data via the web browser. The Bluetooth® and Wireless LAN provide access point for easy configuration within the SvanNET Application.

In line with ISO 1996-2 requirements, the SV 200A uses the electrostatic actuator to perform periodic system check. The advantage of this method is the ability to check the complete measurement chain, including the microphone.

The SV 200A contains an internal Li-ion battery and an interface for direct solar panel connection. A waterproof mains adapter for charging the battery and powering the station is also included.

Weatherproof housing protects the station against extreme weather conditions, while maintaining Class 1 accuracy. The large windscreen is highly efficient in the reduction of wind noise effects, even in high speed wind conditions. Metal spikes also protect against perching birds.
