HSM Live in Scotland
18 October 2023
Health and Safety Matters magazine is excited to bring the first installment of HSM Live to Scotland on 16 November 2023. Find out why you need to be there .
HEALTH AND Safety Matters Live is a new conference series brought to you by the publishers of Health & Safety Matters magazine. The first installment - Health and Safety Matters Live Scotland - will take place on the 16 November and will be attended by 300 occupational safety and health practitioners. The event is also set to be co-located with a sustainability conference, organised by NEBOSH.
The event's headline sponsor is MSA, registration sponsor is Evotix, theatre sponsors are EcoOnline and Safety Chair and sponsors for the event include Unigloves, Sundström Safety, Drager, Stanley, Tilsatec, Martor, Fire Safe International, Shawcity, The Safety Knife Company and our supporting partners are NEBOSH the Health and Safety Executive, British Safety Industry Federation and Institute of Occupational Medicine.
This free-to-attend event boasts two theatres running concurrently with over 20 hours of CPD accredited seminars from leading industry figures sharing best practice, case studies and legislative updates. Delegates have a choice of going to any of the sessions on offer throughout the day.
There will be over 40 leading brands exhibiting and experts from these companies will be on hand with their expertise and product solutions. Visitors will be able to browse the exhibition of leading companies including Beeswift, Casella. Combilift, DuPont, GoreTex, JSP, Minuendo, Resmar and many more.
The seminar content has been curated by Health and Safety Matters and the magazine has a long-established history of offering CPD seminars and webinars for our audience and also has a long history of events in the sector.
You can see the timetables of all the sessions in this preview, but I'd like to highlight some of the 'must-see' sessions here.
The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) kicks off the day and Roy Wilders will be looking at Taking the Risk Out of Specifying PPE and Safety Equipment.
Jim Cliff from MSA will explore Key Considerations When Choosing an Appropriate Hard Hat.
You can also join Rob Leech from EcoOnline for a session on The Introduction of AI into The World of Health and Safety – Risk or Opportunity? He will be exploring and unpeeling the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in health, safety, and environment (HSE) practices, discussing the advantages of AI and its potential as a potent force in HSE.
The conversation will start scratching the surface of the impact of AI in health and safety and examine possible risks, including ethical concerns and the significance of collaboration between humans and AI. By stressing responsible assimilation, the session will present a balanced approach, harnessing the potential of AI while ensuring HSE professionals prioritise trust and transparency when utilising AI tools.
There will also be a fantastic session on Scottish Health and Safety Legislation Update by top lawyers DAC Beachcroft. While the health and safety law is the same across Great Britain, there is a major difference in how offenses are prosecuted in Scotland and you can learn more in this seminar.
The whole day concludes with the health and safety Mock Trial being delivered by DAC Beachcroft. Here, the audience is the jury and it's based on a real case study on Scottish law – so it's actually based on Scottish health and safety legislation. This is a real highlight as it's specific to people based in that region on a real case. The audience will have made the decision – guilty or not guilty – but it will then revealed what happened in the actual case itself.
The event will be co-located with the NEBOSH sustainability conference entitled Putting the People Back into ESG. Registering to HSM live does not give you access to this event but anyone that wants to go to the dedicated NEBOSH event can register through their website and we have more information on that in an article in this preview.
There are many reasons to attend HSM Live Scotland. It will provide fantastic networking opportunities with like-minded OSH professionals and it provides a great chance to forge new connections and share experiences and best practice with your peers. You'll enjoy 20 CPD seminar sessions and will receive CPD certificate for attending. It is the only event in health and safety that takes place in Scotland and is completely FREE - including complimentary tea, coffee, refreshments and lunch.
Edinburgh is perfectly located – the venue has parking nearby train station just metres away and its only minutes to Edinburgh airport from the venue – so you don't even have to be based in Scotland to get easy access to this venue.
Health and Safety Live Scotland is the perfect way for your team to be educated on regulation, legislation, compliance issues and best practice. While exhibitors will have the latest information on products and solutions in the market. We look forward to welcoming you to Scotland's only dedicated health and safety event on 16 November 2023.
