Good for the sole
10 December 2014
Walking on hard tiled or concrete surfaces takes its toll on the feet as well as the ankles, knees and lower back. This constant pounding can cause pain, discomfort and fatigue.
We aren’t helped by our boots and shoes which offer little or no support to the arch, meaning that our weight falls mainly on the heel and the ball of the foot, causing pain and the build-up of hard calloused skin. Lack of support to the arch can lead to plantar fasciitis (policeman’s heel) often resulting in lengthy periods of time off work or fallen arches which can affect the knees, hips and back.
This is where Sole Mates massaging insoles can help. Rather than being made from gel or foam they contain a bladder of liquid glycerine which, because fluid doesn’t compress, not only protects but also supports the foot. Moulding to the individual foot the insoles provide support to the arch as well as the heel and ball of the foot, spreading your weight more evenly.
Because fluid ‘gives’ when pressed, they act as a simple but effective shock absorber in the shoe, relieving pressure on the joints and significantly reducing knee and hip and lower back pain. As pressure is exerted the fluid is pushed across the foot gently massaging the muscles in the foot, increasing the circulation to the feet and lower leg and helping to reduce tiredness caused by standing or walking.
