Industry experts sought to help build health and safety app
23 June 2014
Health and Safety consultants, stakeholders and managers are being invited to take part in a series of workshops to design a new health and safety risk assessment app.
The health and safety app design workshops are set to take place in August at Aston University, Birmingham, as part of a new collaboration between Aston Interactive Media (AIM) Lab and Leamington-based RNF Digital Innovation.
Those with responsibility for health and safety in small and medium sized businesses and individuals employed on a consultancy basis are being encouraged to attend the workshops.
During the workshops, participants will be asked to help co-design a paper prototype of what will later evolve into a mobile device based risk assessment app.
With each workshop lasting around two hours, participants will play a key role in designing the app as organisers seek to tap into their knowledge and experience to produce an app that best meets the users needs.
A registration page will be available on the RNF website www.rnfdigital.com for those interested in taking part. Following the workshops, an information hub including discussions and ideas generated from the workshops will also be available on the RNF website.
Rob Mannion, RNF Digital Innovation managing director, said: "With the workshops we are looking for input from health and safety experts who will play a key role in shaping this new app.
"No prior experience of user interface design or technical app building knowledge is necessary. All that is required is enthusiasm and experience in the field of risk assessment.
"By engaging in this process, participants will help to ensure that the needs of users are met in the design of the system.”
Dr Joanna Lumsden, Senior Lecturer and Aston Interactive Media (AIM) Lab Manager, said: "We are delighted that RNF Digital is collaborating with researchers from the Aston Interactive Media (AIM) Lab as part of the ERDF-funded Touch Digital project to design this innovative mobile app.
"The workshops represent a great opportunity to produce a health and safety app that reflects the needs and requirements of those working within the health and safety industry.”
For those interested in attending the workshops in August please contact Rob Mannion at RNF Digital Innovation on either 01926 676145 or at rob.mannion@rnfdigital.com to book your place.
