Unigloves purchases Derma Shield
08 March 2023
HAND PROTECTION manufacturer Unigloves has announced that it has purchased the Derma Shield business, diversifying to include a broader range of hand and arm protection products and services in line with its growth strategy.
The move will see Unigloves complementing its market-leading industrial and disposable gloves, with Derma Shield's protective skincare system, following a successful commercial partnership with Derma Shield over the last 18 months.
As part of the purchase agreement, former Derma Shield MD Peter Friswell will work with the Unigloves team over the next three years, utilising his many years of experience to support both Derma Shield and Unigloves customers.
On announcing the purchase, Unigloves' UK managing director Chris Wahlers said, “I'm absolutely delighted that we now have the Derma Shield range in our portfolio and look forward to building on this further with Peter as we continue to grow the Derma Shield name in the market.
"Derma Shield is a highly recognised brand, and there is great synergy between it and the Unigloves brand in helping protect working hands from the many hazards they face," said Chris.
Derma Shield is known to protect the skin against everyday workplace skin irritants, including greases, oils, inks, coolants, detergents, solvents, chemicals and paints or from working in outdoor environments. It can be used across a wide range of industrial environments and is safe to use inside gloves.
CE marked and manufactured in the UK to Medical Device Standard ISO 13485, Derma Shield is dispensed as a light mousse for quick and easy application. It forms a breathable and waterproof shield over the skin that moisturises, nurtures and protects it for 4 to 5 hours – even when the hands are repeatedly washed.
Quickly absorbed by the skin, pharmaceutical-grade moisturisers such as Aloe Vera and Vitamin E promptly get to work, helping maintain the skin's natural moisture balance, allowing it to breathe and perspire normally.
As well as preventing the penetration of biological fluids, Derma Shield also controls and prevents dermatitis, helps revive the skin's natural moisture balance and allows the skin to breathe and perspire - especially useful with today's strict hand washing regime.
