JSP Compatibility Assessment Scheme approves Ledlenser lamps

03 November 2025

JSP LTD, leading manufacturer of ‘above the neck’ personal protective equipment (PPE), is proud to announce Ledlenser lamps are JSP Approved Compatible with the JSP range of Industrial Protective helmets.

JSP has recently launched a new Compatibility Assessment Scheme designed to help businesses and end users ensure the safe integration of PPE and accessories. The initiative offers pathways for third party brands to verify compatibility with JSP PPE. Using incompatible PPE can render one or all products worn ineffective, reducing the level of protection claimed by the manufacturer(s) and/or provided to the wearer.

The new version of EN 397:2025 - requirements for Industrial Protective Helmets requires that all integral and non-integral additional protective functions and helmet accessories must be assessed with the helmet and should satisfy the requirements of the standard including ergonomic requirements to assess functionality of helmet and attachments. In summary, additions and accessories that may affect helmet conformity must be mounted during testing and assessed as compatible.

JSP understands that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must not only be worn correctly but also work seamlessly together. In high-risk environments, where head protection and visibility are essential, the combination of helmet and headtorch is a daily reality.

In fact, research shows nearly 80% of headtorch users wear them in conjunction with a helmet. JSP worked with Ledlenser, a global leader in portable lighting solutions, to validate compatibility between our products to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of compatibility, safety and performance when used together.

Under the new JSP Compatibility Assessment Scheme, JSP conducted rigorous, internal testing and evaluation to assess compatibility, comfort and performance. Testing took place at JSP’s UK-based, independently accredited facility.

Selected headtorches from Ledlenser were subjected to the demanding EN12492 impact test — one of the most stringent European helmet standards — as well as the ANSI Type II tests from the US. These simulate the kinds of real-world impact scenarios workers may face.

JSP’s technical department is proud to confirm that all tested Ledlenser headtorches (list available on request) met or exceeded both standards, validating that JSP helmets maintain full protective functionality when a headtorch is attached.

JSP’s new Compatibility Assessment Scheme reflects a shared commitment by working with third-party brands to advancing safety through innovation and rigorous testing. Together, we’re enabling workers to face hazardous conditions with confidence — knowing their PPE ensuring that safety never comes second to performance.
