The Health and Safety Event takes place at the NEC, Birmingham on the 8-10 April 2025 and is the industry's must-attend event. Kelly Rose catches up with David Bishop to find out why you need to be there.

The Health and Safety Event is getting close now. What can you tell me about this year's event?
The Health & Safety Event is set to return bigger than ever from 8-10 April 2025 at the NEC Birmingham. Bringing together over 13,000 professionals from the health and safety industry, this event promises a wealth of opportunities, including a diverse range of exhibitors, valuable networking, and CPD-accredited sessions.
This year, the event is located in Halls 3 and 3A at the NEC, with a massive 17,500 square metres of floor space, which is all fully-allocated. Visitors will benefit from the latest products and services from more than 350 exhibitors, making it the perfect place to discover industry innovations and connect with new suppliers.
Across the three days, attendees will have access to over 60 hours of free CPD-accredited content delivered across multiple theatres, along with live demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and exclusive networking events.
What sets the event apart from other events that cover the sector?
Location is crucial for the health and safety industry, and the NEC’s central position makes it an ideal choice. It offers excellent facilities, including plenty of free parking, great rail connections, and easy access to an international airport. There’s also a wide selection of nearby hotels for convenient accommodation.
Resorts World, located next to the NEC, adds to the appeal with its fantastic selection of bars and restaurants, making it a popular spot for evening networking. Many companies take advantage of this vibrant venue to connect with customers after the event.
In fact, the Safety & Health Excellence Awards organised by Western Business Media will be held at The Vox in Resorts World on the Wednesday evening – this is proudly supported and sponsored by Nineteen Group. This event provides an additional networking opportunity for the health and safety community and is a fantastic evening celebrating our industry's successes.
Can you give me an insight into what some of the industry associations are doing at your event?
Some of our key partners for the event include IOSH, HSE, BSIF and NEBOSH. IOSH is running a dedicated three-day content programme at the Keynote Theatre, exclusively organised by them. They’re also collaborating more closely with the HSE this year.
On day two, IOSH will host a special session featuring Sarah Newton, Chair of the HSE, and Kelly Nichol, President of IOSH. This will be a keynote-style discussion but in a more relaxed, conversational format. They’ll be reflecting on 50 years of the HSE, discussing developments within IOSH and HSE, and exploring how they can work together to create a safer and healthier working environment.
This session kicks off on Wednesday morning and promises to be a highlight of the event. Of course, IOSH has a lot more planned throughout the three days, so there’s plenty to look forward to.
The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) Registered Safety Supplier Trail is back again this year. The trail highlights suppliers who are members of BSIF and have committed to ensuring their safety equipment and services meet the necessary standards, fully comply with PPE regulations, and are correctly marked.
By following the trail, you can have confidence that you purchase genuine and appropriately approved PPE. and safety products. This year, we’re excited to have more BSIF members exhibiting than ever before.
NEBOSH is once again putting together some fantastic sessions together for the Knowledge Exchange theatre over the three days, offering a great mix of valuable insights.
One of the standout sessions features CEO Andy Shenstone, who will discuss how to engage leaders effectively. He’ll cover the language needed to communicate with C-suite leaders, common mistakes to avoid, and how to understand things from their perspective. This session aims to help safety professionals build credibility and secure buy-in from senior leadership.
In addition to this, there are other valuable sessions lined up. On the first day, Nikki Booth, who leads assessment development at NEBOSH, will focus on learning and assessment. On the final day, Dee Arp, NEBOSH’s chief quality officer and an excellent speaker, will explore the topic of psychological safety.
It’s a great lineup with plenty of useful insights, and NEBOSH will also have its own stand throughout the event.
We also have RoSPA back this year, and they’ve been working on a national accident prevention strategy under the theme 'Safer Lives, Stronger Nation.' This involves an in-depth analysis programme and extensive data capture, and they’ll be presenting their findings on the last day, Thursday. It’s set to be a fascinating session.
RoSPA is also contributing to discussions on driver safety, which is one of their core focus areas. Their involvement this year is sure to bring valuable insights.
Can you give me a taste of who's exhibiting?
If you take a look at the exhibitor list, you will see an array of global companies covering the spectrum of the industry across all the different product categories. Just to give you a small taste of who's there – some of our premier partners include Draeger Safety, Evotix, HandsHQ, JSP, Mascot International, Milwaukee, Portwest, RS, Sketchers, Tilsatec, U-Power, Uvex and EcoOnline.
What sets this event apart from any others that that's in the sector?
What sets this event apart from others in the health and safety sector is its sheer size and scope. It’s the largest event of its kind, offering the broadest range of products, services, and information available. Whatever challenges health and safety professionals face, they’re likely to find solutions here.
The variety is impressive, and the content is unmatched – you won’t find this level of expertise and specialised topics anywhere else. From driver safety sessions with National Highways and the Driving for Better Business campaign to in-depth discussions on lone worker safety, practical safety demonstrations, the Knowledge Exchange, and exclusive IOSH keynotes, there’s something for everyone. Plus, there are drop-in sessions happening throughout the event.
The range and amount of information available are incredible and it’s all free of charge. For those looking to enhance their professional development, the CPD opportunities are excellent, supported by CPDme to help attendees get the most out of the event.
Additionally, the event offers a one-to-one meeting system, allowing visitors to register in advance to source specific products or services. An agency will coordinate these meetings, making it easier for attendees to connect with the right suppliers.
There’s so much on offer at this event, and it’s designed to make the experience valuable and worthwhile for both visitors and exhibitors. If you want to learn more or register, visit the website for full details.
