The Health and Safety Event is the industry's must attend exhibition and takes place at the NEC in Birmingham on 30 April – 2 May 2024. Kelly Rose catches up with event director David Bishop to find out more about this upcoming event.

The Health and Safety Event is getting close now. What can you tell me about this year's event?

The event takes place from 30 April – 2 May 2024 at the NEC, Birmingham and is the industry's premier health and safety event. We have over 300 exhibitors and floorspace is over 7,000 m2, so it's bigger and better than ever before and you'll find solutions for most workplace challenges.

It's completely free, and the combination and range of exhibitor calibre with the quality of educational content, we are bringing visitors a truly outstanding event for the health & safety industry.

We have strived to create a platform for anyone in the health and safety industry to celebrate, inform, share, and network at this face-to-face event. Professionals in this industry are extremely dedicated to ensuring their colleagues return home safe and well at the end of their working day and companies are keen to share this expertise with you. The show champions this and through these interactive opportunities there will be valuable insights for visitors to take away from the show.

What sets the event apart from other events that cover the sector?

For the health and safety industry, location is key and in terms of its facilities and central location, the NEC ticks all the boxes. There is ample, free parking , a superb train network, an international airport and a great choice of hotels. In addition, Resort World boasts an array of excellent bars and restaurants and is a fantastic venue for the evening and many companies network with customers there.

The Safety & Health Excellence Awards take place at The Vox on the Wednesday evening, which Nineteen Group support and sponsor. This is a valuable addition and a fantastic synergy with the Event as it offers another networking opportunity for the health and safety community. So the NEC is the place to be if you work in this industry sector.

Can you give me an insight into which associations will be at the event?

IOSH, Health & Safety Executive, British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF), NEBOSH, IEMA. IIRSM, UKATA, Highways England, SAFed, SHEP and many more industry bodies and associations have confirmed their attendance at the show and will be on hand to chat. Don't miss this opportunity to speak directly to the industry experts, the knowledge sharing and insight on offer is invaluable.

The Registered Safety Supplier Trail - in partnership with the BSIF – returns this year. All suppliers of this trail are members of BSIF and have signed a binding declaration that the safety equipment and services they offer meet the appropriate standards, fully comply with the PPE regulations and are appropriately marked. Follow the trail and be assured that the PPE you are buying is from a Registered Safety Supplier.

Can you tell us some of the brands that will be part of the exhibition this year?
