Nigel Mills MP visits DEB
28 January 2015
On 9th January, Amber Valley MP Nigel Mills visited DEB’s global Headquarters in Denby, Derbyshire.
DEB leads the industry in producing skin care and hand hygiene systems for all types of workplace and public environments, including industrial, commercial, healthcare and food sectors. Mr Mills was given a tour of the facility and found out more about how DEB is making workplaces safer.
DEB products are used more than 150 million times every day and the company now employs 850 people worldwide. Nigel Mills MP took a tour of DEB’s facilities and talked to local staff.
He said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to visit DEB and talk to so many of my constituents about a range of issues. It was great to see the innovative work and products DEB creates to ensure workplaces across the country can operate safely and productively. Companies like DEB play such a vital role in providing employment opportunities in Derbyshire and I hope their association with Amber Valley continues well for years to come.”
DEB managing director, Jeff Bell, said: "DEB started in the Belper, Derbyshire home of our founder, A. B. Williamson, in 1942. We’ve manufactured products locally for over 80 years and just completed one of our best ever years for growth in the UK and internationally. This allows us to employ more local people, develop innovative new products and provide increased support for our customers. Skin care and hand hygiene is a vital area of health and safety in the workplace and for public health. Practising high standards of health and safety can increase the success of an organisation by building reputation within the community and reducing days missed through injury or illness. At DEB we are proud of our tradition and to be part of a sector that contributes £1 billion a year to the UK economy.”
DEB is a proud member of the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF), the UK’s leading trade body for the occupational health and safety industry. This visit highlights the BSIF’s campaign to promote the important role health and safety legislation plays in peoples’ working lives.
