The BSIF - HSE It's in your hands campaign was hailed a success at a review meeting by campaign stakeholders.
The campaign message being delivered by BSIF supply-side companies and the seminars run by various stakeholders has dramatically increased awareness of occupational skin diseases, as has an increase in the issue of improvement notices by inspectors. The induction programme for HSE inspectors now includes a specific module on skin protection and a new protocol is about to be introduced for GPs for handling presentations of work-related skin diseases.
The campaign continues until the end of 2010, by when it is expected that the objective of reducing the incidence of work-related dermatitis by 20% against 2006 levels will have been achieved.
