A £1 million investment in security and a local community partnership has paid off for Onward Holdings, after West Yorkshire Police officially recognised Langthwaite Business Park in South Kirby as crime free.

The company, which operates a number of industrial warehousing and retail parks in the North of England, built two warehouses on the site. Despite neither unit suffering any vandalism, concerns about security in the area made companies reluctant to let long-term. Onward Holdings pooled resources with community partners including the local council and business association to invest just over £1million on CCTV cameras, security lighting, new fencing, roaming security guards and the establishment of an estate management committee. Confidence in the site dramatically increased and now only one of the company's warehouses remains to be let.
