A bird's eye view of safety

Visitors to Health & Safety South have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a real live Harris Hawk on the NBC Bird & Pest Solutions stand, as they explain the range of services their company employs - including the use of birds of prey for bird control as a natural bird scaring measure.

Pest birds - pigeons and seagulls for example - are not only a nuisance but can also be a danger to employees and the public, especially during the nesting season when they can nest on buildings and rooftop plant and machinery. Other species such as skylarks or lapwings (ground nesting birds) cause delays and problems to re-development projects and construction sites. Started in 1993 with a Princes' Trust grant, NBC Bird & Pest Solutions provides an ethical and responsible solution for any business that has a bird problem - be it noise, guano, aggressive behaviour, and nesting in grounds or buildings.
