The division also provides several different types of courses for those electing to receive training as opposed to points on their licence after a conviction.

Recent research by AA DriveTech confirms that some 42% of drivers attending police speed awareness courses were either at work at the time of the offence or travelling to and from their workplace.

Education is only one of the three key elements that have driven the dramatic drop in casualty rates - the other two being engineering and enforcement - but arguably it is the most directly influential upon driver behaviour.

"Our unique style of delivery appears to have been pretty successful at getting drivers to consider the implications of their actions out on road. Education is wasted unless it's enduring," says AA DriveTech MD Jim Kirkwood.....
