In order to lead a fundamental review of the structure of the BSIF to ensure that it maintains and grows its position as a leading stakeholder within the UK safety industry, the new position of Chief Executive Officer has been created.

In announcing the appointment of David Lummis as the new CEO, David Hall, Chairman of the BSIF, commented "The time is now right for the BSIF to carry out a comprehensive review of its forward strategy, its policies and its resource management. This will enable it to continue to fulfil its public service mission whilst developing enhanced, up to date and relevant services for its members over the coming years."

David Lummis has been a Board member of the BSIF since it was created and has over 30 years experience within the safety industry at a senior management level. He has successfully managed and grown commercial organisations before joining the BSIF as the managing director of BSIF Enterprises some four years ago and, from this and as a former member, has a deep understanding of the BSIF and what it is seeking to achieve.

"Whilst David will speak for the BSIF in his new role, he has asked me to continue my representative activities. " said Geoff Hooke, who remains in post as the Secretary General, " I am now looking forward to working with David as he takes on the challenging task of re-vitalising the BSIF."
