INSPEC International, a leading
independent provider of testing and
certification services to PPE
manufacturers, has expanded its
certification services to include the
environmental management
standard ISO 14001.
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard for environmental systems. It enables organisations to measure the impact its activities, services, products and people have on the environment.
One of the primary requirements for successful certification is for companies to compile a comprehensive list of the environmental aspects associated with their business operations and identify those that will affect the environmental most. Typical targets include managing energy consumption and disposing of waste responsibly. The certification process comprises a two-stage initial assessment followed by annual surveillance assessments and a reassessment every third year.
"Achieving ISO 14001 sends out a clear signal that a company takes its environmental responsibilities seriously," says Paul Clarke, INSPEC's Managing Director.
