Why choose a PAPR?
13 February 2019
A Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) is a type of personal protective equipment used to safeguard workers against contaminated air, explains PK Safety.
PAPRs are a wearable motor driven respirator that actively filter the ambient air of a workplace and deliver it to the operative through a hood worn on the head. PAPRs are sometimes called positive-pressure masks, blower units, or just blowers. An easy way to think of these is as a “vacuum cleaner in reverse”.
A PAPR system uses a motor instead of lung power to draw air through the filter. This lets you breathe more naturally while feeling a constant airflow in your head top while working in hot and humid environments.
With a PAPR kit workforces can choose to add various protective elements so that it offers eye, ear and/or head protection as well as the respiratory protection offered “on the tin”
Beards, stubble and heavy sideburns compromise the “seal” of a disposable, half face or full-face mask meaning that they offer no protection to the user at all. Certain PAPR kits allows users to have any form of facial hair.
A Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) delivers filtered air, all shift long, for improved protection and comfort your employees will want to wear.
