Full warehouses are safety concern
15 July 2019
UKWA CEO Peter Ward has warned that UK warehouses are already full, suggesting that stockpiling before the potential no-deal Brexit on October 31st may be near impossible.
“There is no available space. The market, as represented by our members, is virtually at capacity,” he said. “The biggest concern at the moment is that the October deadline comes right bang in the middle of peak season. From a timing point of view it couldn’t be worse.”
Peter added, “You can’t just turn on supply. Putting real estate in the system takes five to seven years. I can’t see any increase in supply in October relative to March.”
