Fire Safety North returns to EventCity in Manchester on 8-9 October for the third consecutive year, boasting a wealth of free educational content and live demonstrations.

FIRE SAFETY North returns to EventCity Manchester on 8-9 October for the third consecutive year and will once again be co-located with Health & Safety North. These events attract more than 2,000 delegates and boast 150+ exhibitors showcasing all the latest products, innovations in the fire safety sector.

Fire Safety North is dedicated to supporting fire and safety professionals to achieve and maintain the very highest standards of fire safety management.

Leading media and associations including the Association for Specialist Fire Protection, the Association of Insurance Surveyors, the Fire Protection Association, the Independent Fire Engineering & Distributors Association, Institute of Fire Safety Managers, National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers and the Institution of Fire Engineers are officially supporting the show and attendance from these organisations ensures there will be an abundance of opportunities to obtain and discuss insightful and direct information from industry professionals.

Educational Content

Every year the events are prided on gathering the industry’s most respected voices to share fresh perspectives and insights on the challenges and solutions of today. This year is no exception.

Fire Safety North also offers an unparalleled line-up of free seminar sessions and the chance to gain insight on improving fire safety, business continuity and protection for organisations. The content is organised by Fire & Security Matters magazine and the event sees the return of the Fire Safety Keynote Theatre, sponsored by Advanced, one of the world’s leading fire systems businesses. After each session Advanced will give a live and interactive demonstration on how to eliminate unwanted alarm signals.

Day one will commence with a session on protecting tall buildings and how to ensure they are safely evacuated in the event of an emergency.  There are subtle changes at play when planning a safe evacuation policy from building design, maintenance and workforce diversity to be considered. Delegates will learn about all the areas that should be covered in your evacuation policy. It will also look at how to protect tall buildings with reliable wireless detection systems.

The Fire Sector Federation will then deliver a keynote address on the future of fire safety laws post Grenfell. This session will look at the key learnings that can be taken away in the wake of the Grenfell Tower Tragedy and the independent review of the building regulations as well as the current consultation on the Fire Safety Order.

The day will conclude with a mock trial delivered by leading fire safety lawyer Warren Spencer who has prosecuted more cases than anyone else in the UK under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Delegates will be the judge and jury for the re-enactment of a real life trial, which examines the role of Responsible Person.

The final day will begin with a seminar focussed on ensuring fire safety competency.  This session will explain the serious consequences of not having a competent person carrying out fire safety work. It will also tell delegates ways of how to ensure that contractors are qualified to undertake fire safety work.

All sessions featured in the seminar programmes are CPD accredited. Continuing Professional Development helps individuals focus on how they can become a more competent and effective professional with training and learning being the key to increasing confidence and overall capability.
