Dual-level acoustic calibrator

21 October 2020

ACOUSTIC MEASUREMENT instrumentation specialists, Cirrus Research, has added a new range of instruments to its already-extensive line-up.

The CR:516 and CR:517 are dual-level acoustic calibrators and can be used to calibrate sound level meters and noise dosimeters in the field, using either the 94dB at 1kHz or 114dB at 1kHz levels that are featured as standard. These new acoustic calibrators are available as either Class 1 (CR:517) or Class 2 (CR:516) instruments to the IEC 60942: 2017 standard.

As well as offering two calibration levels from the same unit, the CR:516 and CR:517 dual-level acoustic calibrators boast the following features:

  • IEC 60942: 2017 Class 2 & Class 1 performance

  • 94dB and 114dB sound pressure level output

  • Can be used for the calibration of sound level meters, noise dosimeters and instruments that require two levels of calibration

  • Suitable for use with standard 1/2" microphone capsules

  • 1/4" microphone adaptor available

  • Automatic power switch-off with user override, providing longer battery life

  • Robust case with ergonomic design

Head of research and development at Cirrus Research, Martin Williams, said, "The introduction of the new dual-level acoustic calibrators to our product portfolio marks yet another watershed moment in our history of product development. Dual-level acoustic calibrators have been one of the most requested instruments from our worldwide client base. The fact that we have developed new products amidst the recent global uncertainty is testament to the strength of our business and the dedication of our people.

"It also highlights the fact that for Cirrus Research, our clients are at the centre of everything we do and drive our research and development function. They ask, and we deliver."

The new dual-level calibrators are the latest in a string of new additions to Cirrus Research's product portfolio. Recent additions include the Optimus+ GPS-enabled sound level meter and a range of Covid-secure solutions, including the IR Sentinel contactless temperature detection system.

The CR:516 and CR:517 dual-level acoustic calibrators are now available to order from Cirrus Research.
