Overcoming mobile blackspots

17 February 2016

The StaySafe app from Safe Apps is now supported by Inmarsat’s global L-band satellite network coverage, which is said to ensure reliable access to critical data from remote sites anywhere in the world.

The partnership brings together StaySafe; a BS8484 accredited lone worker safety solution consisting of an app and cloud‐based hub, and Inmarsat; a global mobile satellite communication provider.

The StaySafe app, which utilises data and mobile connectivity, offers a wide range of functions including a panic button, working session expiry, GPS tracking, inactivity and duress alerts. By partnering with Inmarsat, StaySafe customers can now also utilise satellite coverage to monitor employees in areas where there is little or no mobile signal, anywhere in the world.

Nadeem Khan, head of applications enablement, Inmarsat Enterprise said: “As we all have smart devices with GPS capabilities, combining that with StaySafe app and Inmarsat’s global, reliable network, is a simple way to ensure that no matter where you might go, there is always someone watching your back.”

Don Cameron, CEO StaySafe, added: “This partnership is a fantastic development for any organisation which has responsibility for employees who travel and work off the beaten track. Now StaySafe incorporates Inmarsat’s satellite network, the issues caused to employers by mobile blackspots are fast becoming a thing of the past.”
