A massive 20% increase in visitors, compared to 2010, was seen at the first in the series of Health and Safety '11 events which took place at Sandown Park Racecourse on 1-2 March, 2011.

Event director Tim Else said: “We are extremely pleased with the number of visitors that have come to Health and Safety '11- South this year. It just keeps on growing year on year and the feedback that we have received from both visitors and exhibitors indicates that the Health and Safety series provides the right mix of educational content and top-rate exhibitors”.

This sentiment was backed up by visitors, including Stuart Holmes from Day Aggregates who said: “I like coming to events such as Health & Safety'11 - South to see what is new, to get updates on seminars and conferences. I like being kept up to date with information and this is the perfect place to do that”.

One of the new exhibitors at Sandown Park was Toyota Materials Handling. Regional sales manager, Chris Bowles said: “Toyota offers some great innovative solutions which address health and safety in the workplace, and this excellent exhibition has given us the opportunity to demonstrate just a few of those that we manufacture and support with great after sales and training. Health and Safety '11 - South has been a real success and we have met some very interesting companies who need advice on specific handling areas of their operation."

Seminars attracted a lot of attendees with 'Common Sense, Common Safety' delivered by Dr. Paul Almond, senior lecturer at the School of Law, University of Reading, particularly well attended.

Vertex, Health & Safety Adviser, Brian Heaney said of the event and seminar he attended: “Health and Safety '11 - South today overall provided great information on a range of subjects, and it has turned out to be a really informative day! I was particularly looking forward to the legal seminar, as it talked about responsibilities for management and directors."

Also Hayley Ramsey, who works for a district council, said: “I really enjoyed today especially the last legal seminar. I've learned lots of useful stuff to take on board! And I would definitely come back again next year."

The Health and Safety '11 events are specifically designed to suit safety professionals who are looking for educational information and guidance on the best products and services the industry has to offer all under one roof. Each of the events attracts a large audience of safety professionals, business owners, company directors and procurement specialists from a wide range of manufacturing, construction, transport, education and public sector organisations and this year was no different.

Along with event partners 3M, Ansell, Arco and Dupont, the Health and Safety '11 series of events is supported by the British Safety Council and Safety Groups UK and officially endorsed by the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM).

The next in this series of regional events, Health and Safety 11- Scotland will take place at The Royal Highland Centre on the 7-8 September 2011.For more information on seminar content and to register in advance please visit www.healthandsafetyevents.co.uk.
