Personal dust monitor
13 July 2022
TSI INTRODUCES enhancements in respirable silica monitoring on its SidePak™ Personal Aerosol Monitor. Now more than ever, respirable silica is a very prevalent occupational hazard requiring worker exposure monitoring.
Protecting workers require real-time monitoring of exposed workers to track down the problem and take immediate corrective action (e.g. real-time alarm notifications, engineering control evaluation, work practice changes, need for PPE, etc.). Real-time monitoring then provides rapid validation to ensure you are on the right path to reducing worker exposure and gaining confidence with compliance before doing reference gravimetric testing, to comply with regulatory standards.
TSI says the SidePak™ Personal Aerosol Monitor is the smallest, battery operated, most portable personal dust monitor on the market—it is a rugged belt-mounted laser photometer used to monitor day-to-day exposure, like respirable silica dust, to improve worker health and safety.
With the TSI SidePak™ Personal Aerosol Monitor new application features to address this real-time benefit include: dual display and data logging of mass concentration and response concentration (i.e., for respirable silica, welding fume and DPM monitoring applications); the ability to store up to 10 custom calibration factors on the instrument; custom calibration factor calculator updates on TrakPro v5 Data Analysis Software; and enhanced alarm features to set both the mass concentration and response concentration (i.e., action limit) alarm values.
The company says, "With the SidePak™ Personal Aerosol Monitor, real-time monitoring can accomplish in days, what normally takes weeks and months with traditional gravimetric sampling programs, the data insight collection needed to immediately improve worker safety on the job and reduce risk to companies."
