New manifesto puts managing risk at the heart of the future of health and safety
23 January 2013
The British Safety Council (BSC) has launched Working Well, its first ever manifesto for workplace health and safety.

The British Safety Council has secured pledges of support from across the political spectrum to shape the health and safety landscape over the coming years. The launch of its manifesto, Working Well, at the House of Commons, saw a number of MPs and Peers pledge their support and voice the seriousness of having a sound and effective health and safety system and recognising the value it adds to society, business and the economy.
Alex Botha, chief executive of the British Safety Council commented: “The British Safety Council attaches great importance to the work of many Parliamentarians who campaign tirelessly to help keep our workplaces healthy and safe. We all need to work together to help shift the debate on health and safety. Now is the time to talk about the real benefits, particularly business ones, of well managed, sensible health and safety. It's not about the silly stories, the bad press. It's about the steps that can be taken to ensure workers are kept safe and lives saved.â€
