Team GB's chief medical officer, Ian McCurdie, has advised athletes to avoid shaking hands with rivals at this summer's games in case they contract bugs. BOA will also issue competitors with portable sanitisers to help keep their hands germ-free before and after events.

Kimberly-Clark Professional says it isn't only athletes who should be concerned. Every day, millions of people in offices greet their colleagues, clients and suppliers with a handshake. But businesses who sign up to the Healthy Workplace Project* will be offered a free assessment of their working environment, from reception desks to individual workstations, conducted by a Kimberly-Clark Professional* wellness consultant. Following the visit, the consultant will make tailored recommendations on where to place hygiene products such as hand sanitisers and desk wipes.
