Murex Welding Products is offering
the opportunity to win a free place
on a Certified Gas Inspectors
Course. These courses are designed
to qualify persons to conduct full
safety checks on individual oxy-fuel
gas welding systems which is now a
legal requirement under the
Management of Health & Safety at
Work Regulators (S.I 3242 of 1999)
to carry out a formal assessment.
The British Compressed Gases Association is recognised by the HSE as an independent expert to lay down in "Code of Practice CP7 - The Safe use of Oxy-Fuel Equipment (Individual Portable or Mobile Cylinder Supply)," all the essential practices to ensure the safe use of oxy-acetylene welding & cutting equipment in the working environment .
CP7 provides detailed information on the inspection of oxy-fuel equipment, its safe use, its maintenance and its replacement within safe time limits as well as manufacturers' recommendations.
How to actually carry out the inspections, checks and procedures as laid out in CP7 is a further area of consideration. Do you have experienced in-house staff to carry out these tasks? Do you need to get an existing employee to obtain Gas Inspection Certification? The essential requirement is for the employee to be demonstrably competent, which may be by a combination of training and experience.
If companies do not already have qualified personnel, they can attend London City and Guilds certified training courses run by Murex Welding Products. The two day Certification Courses are conducted at the company's Waltham Cross HQ and have been running for over 30 years. They give qualifications which allow individuals to conduct full safety checks on oxy-fuel gas systems. The first part of the course covers theoretical instruction and the second day is devoted to practical training that teaches the candidates how to fully test an oxy-fuel gas station and pass it off for safe use.
Murex Welding Products is offering a FREE place worth £500 + on a 2011 Certification Course.
Accommodation, lunch and dinner are included as part of the prize. All you have to do is answer the following question: How long have the Murex gas inspectors certification courses been running? To enter simply send your answer with your name, company name and address, telephone number, email address and nature of business to info@murexwelding.co.uk quoting "COMPETITION" in the subject heading.
The winner will be picked from all the correct entries received by 30 May 2011.
