The return to work: Keeping your working environment safe
09 July 2020
As many of us return to our workplaces, the safety of staff is the highest priority. Keeping a clean and sterile environment ensures employers are giving the protection staff require.
Disinfecting such large spaces quickly, regularly, and effectively can be a challenge. One approach is to use high-powered fogging equipment to disperse anti-viral/anti-bacterial disinfectant; misting the work area and covering it in a fine, non-sticky film which then evaporates, killing 99% of bacteria, viruses and fungi that are present.
Fogging equipment comes in many forms and can be provided as a fixed solution that is permanently installed as part of the workspace or rented as a portable option complete with an internal power source.
Solutions in action
UK-based leading chemical manufacturer, Robinson Brothers, has been using this approach to keep its employees' working environment safe. A spokesperson for Robinson Brothers said: “One of the ways this has been achieved is by using a mobile Vortex Rotary Atomiser supplied by Air Spectrum. This device is a non-invasive way to efficiently disinfect production plants.
"A very fine mist containing a dilute anti-viral additive is created by the unit which quickly disinfects an entire production plant with minimal inconvenience.
This ensures that if there is a case of COVID-19 on site, the potential spread would be contained, and production can continue safely.”
Monitoring conditions
As well as treating the work environment with disinfection equipment to help prevent the spread of illness and protect the workforce, it is essential to continually monitor potential triggers for contamination. Factors like temperature, humidity, and total levels of Volatile Organic Compounds in the air can all influence the rate in which diseases can spread in a closed environment.
By tracking these factors effectively with a smart indoor air quality monitor like ‘Airgloss ProSense’ and displaying the data openly to employees, you can response quickly should any issues arise. Tracking and displaying this data will also help to ease any anxieties staff may have about returning to an enclosed work environment. Airgloss ProSense data can be displayed via any device or screen using the included cloud software.
By using a combination of these technologies, you can ensure that you are providing the best possible practice in keeping a safe environment post COVID-19.
