Accu introduced AccuBots at Smart Manufacturing Week

17 June 2025

ACCU, A leading supplier of precision engineering components, showcased its pioneering AccuBots at Smart Manufacturing Week on 4–5 June at the NEC Birmingham.

Combining innovation with entertainment, Accu’s stand featured live 3D-printed robot battles—a hands-on demonstration of how its precision components perform under dynamic, high-stress conditions. Fasteners such as shoulder screws, brass threaded inserts and polyfix self-tapping screws will be tested in real time, revealing the critical role they play in building durable, re-usable 3D-printed assemblies.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with the bots and explore mechanical problem-solving in an interactive format designed to bridge theoretical engineering and real-world application.

Alastair Morris, managing director of Accu said, “This was our first live trade event featuring the bots, and was a powerful way to showcase component performance in action. We want to inspire engineers—present and future—by highlighting how great design begins with high-quality components.”

As part of its commitment to engineering education, Accu is also collaborating with student robotics teams, including Holmfirth High School. The initiative offers students practical experience with CAD, additive manufacturing, and mechanical design skills, crucial to the future of UK industry.

Smart Manufacturing Week is the UK’s premier engineering event, bringing together innovators, manufacturers and technologists to explore the future of smart industry.
