Adding a new dimension to a Mt
Kilimanjaro climb, Station
Commander Martin Lown of
Hereford & Worcester Fire and
Rescue Service completed the 5895m
(AMSL) task in seven days whilst
wearing fire kit and breathing
apparatus. Sponsored by Draeger
Safety UK and carrying a Draeger
PSS 7000 compressed air breathing
apparatus, the climb was carried out
in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.
Lown commented: “Having
recently gone live with the new
Draeger PSS 7000 set within the
Service as part of the West Midlands
regional procurement, I decided to
try and complete the climb whilst
wearing fire kit and BA. Draeger BA
is lightweight and comfortable to
wear so it did not hinder me in any
way despite the arduous conditions.”
