Pedestrian electric tugs from MasterMover are providing safe materials handling in the manufacture of the latest generation of vehicles from Leyland Trucks. The use of two SmartMover SM100 models allows heavy pre-assembled modules to be moved by a single operator, freeing up valuable manpower. "In addition, with the SmartMover bearing the brunt of the load, our operator can move the unit in a manner that significantly reduces risks to health and safety,” Marc Oakley facilities and maintenance manager for Leyland Trucks adds.
The pre alignment assembly system weighs around 1,000 kg and previously took two to three people to push the units across the floor. Oakley explains: "We were worried about the process causing an accident or long-term repetitive strain injury.”

Prior to investing in the gas bottle mover gas bottles were moved by a porter from the central stores to their destination using either a trolley or were carried manually. The Gas Bottle Mover is purpose designed and built to address the problem of transferring gas bottles safely and quickly around a hospital. The machine supplied is capable of moving up to 16 bottles in a single journey, enabling the porters to make more efficient ward deliveries and reducing manual handling. |
