Safety Pilot  available for heavy trucks

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Linde Material Handling’s driver assistance system, ‘Linde Safety Pilot’ (LSP), is now available for forklift trucks with internal combustion engines, on counterbalanced models up to 8 tonnes.

Introduced to the market in 2014, LSP has previously been available for trucks up to 1.4 tonnes, but now can be retrofitted to heavier models and additional features allow operators to measure maximum height and tilt angles for large loads.

The system helps to prevent tip-over accidents by monitoring a wide range of different vehicle parameters during operation, such as the lift height, load centre of gravity, driving speed, and intervenes in critical safety situations.

The LSP enables operators to assess when the truck’s mast is operating close to maximum capacity. The system will issue visual and noise warnings to the driver and, if ignored, the truck control unit will intervene and block dangerous lifting and tilting functions. It is available in two versions, basic and active.
