Public Health Minister’s Award to recognise excellence in workplace health

To celebrate the growing number of successful workplace health and wellbeing initiatives, Jane Ellison the Minister for Public Health has established an award scheme which is now open for submissions. The award is open to organisations or teams based in England from any sector or discipline that can demonstrate evidence of the positive impact projects or services have had on employees and organisational objectives.

Increasing numbers of organisations are making workplace health a key priority and celebrating successful and innovative schemes is one way we can continue to raise the profile of workplace health.

The new award has been launched by RSPH and the Department of Health and submissions are being accepted until Friday 18th July. The winner will be announced at the RSPH Annual Conference on the 1st October.

Speaking about the Award Jane Ellison, Minister for Public Health said: “Work and the workplace can have a huge influence on the health and wellbeing of individuals and their families. However, this is all too often overlooked or underestimated. I want to use this first Public Health Minister’s Award to highlight the importance of workplace health and to celebrate some of the excellent initiatives and approaches taken by organisations throughout the country.”

Shirley Cramer CBE, Chief Executive of RSPH commented “The benefits to be gained from ensuring good workplace health are plentiful and backed up by countless studies with improved staff morale, increased job satisfaction, reduced stress and absenteeism, fewer injuries and increased wellbeing of staff being just a few. RSPH are delighted to be partnering with the Department of Health on the Public Health Minister’s Award with it’s focus on such a crucial part of public health”.
